I found this photo of an ornament I made probably last year. I’m trying to reproduce it, but I don’t think I’ve quite managed it. The picture is pretty blurry which makes it a bit difficult.

I’m hoping I still have the real thing, and I’ll be able to examine it once I haul out the Christmas decorations. If so, I will publish it for sure.

Meanwhile, I’m writing up the pattern I did come up with. The photo with the red background is how it looks blocked and stretched. I had to do a lot of stretching to make it pointy like I wanted it. Maybe I just stretched it too much. Here is what it looked like before blocking.

So here’s the pattern for your holiday enjoyment.

ch8, join with sl st in 1st ch to make a ring.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as first dc), work 2 more dcs into the ring,
*ch3, work 3 dcs into ring*, rep between *’s 3 more times;
ch3, join w sl st in top of beginning ch3. 
(5 groups of 3 dc with ch-3 between each dc group)

Round 2: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc in each of next 2 dcs,
*ch2, dc in next chsp, ch2, dc in each of next 3 dcs*
rep between *’s 3 more times; ch2, dc in next chsp, ch3, join w sl st in top of beg ch3. 
(5 groups [3 dcs, ch2, dc, ch2] )

Round 3:  *sl st in next dc (middle of the group of 3 scs), ch3, sk next dc,
dc next chsp, ch3, dc in next chsp, ch3, sk next dc*,
rep between *’s 4 more times, sl st in same dc as beg sl st.
(5 points of [ch3, dc, ch3, sc, ch3] with a sl st between each point)

Round 4: *sc in next dc two rounds below (round 2, (middle of 3 dcs), work 3 dcs in next chsp (of round 3), tr in same chsp, ch2, tr in next chsp, ch2, tr in next chsp, work 3 dcs in next chsp*, rep between *’s 4 more times, sl st in first sc.
(5 groups of:
sc, [3 dcs, tr, ch2] (going up),
tr, [ch2, tr, 3 dcs, sc] (going down)
)

Round 5: *sc in each of next 4 sts, work 2 scs in next chsp, [sc, ch3, sc] in next tr, work 2 scs in next chsp, sc in each of next 4 sts, sk next sc*, rep from * 4 more times, fasten off and weave in ends.
(70 scs + 5 ch3 sps (one at each point))
